AWE Breaktimes
Breaktimes are informal lunch events where members can connect with company representatives. During Breaktimes, members can ask questions about the representatives’ current projects, the company, the experience of being a female or nonbinary engineer, and much more. In the past, members have had the opportunity to engage with engineers from companies such as a16z, Salesforce, and Capital One, as well as members of WISCE (the Women in Computer Science Club for graduate students). Breaktimes are typically held on Fridays from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, but please check our calendar for the full schedule!
AWE Teatimes
Teatimes are the virtual counterpart to Breaktimes and are typically hosted on Zoom. Instead of gathering over lunch, we provide codes for members to order their own drinks from local boba shops. The virtual format of Teatimes allows for flexibility, and we welcome ideas that depart from the traditional small group discussions of Breaktimes. AWE BLI Study Hours
We recognize the racial disparities that exist within the gender gap in tech. To help close this gap and address systemic inequities, we host dedicated workshops for the BLI community. Examples include study sessions, professional development workshops, and more. Be sure to check our calendar for upcoming events!
AWE LGBTQ+ Events and Support
AWE strives to build a community at the intersection of tech and LGBTQ+ while actively addressing gender disparities in this male-dominated field. We recognize that not all non-male individuals identify with a female identity; however, we welcome everyone who experiences the shared challenges of being a gender minority in tech.
AWE Socials/General Meetings
Socials and General Meetings are monthly gatherings where members enjoy a range of fun activities and games, from planting succulents to sharing delicious food. General Meetings are typically held in Soda or Cory Hall, but please check our calendar for the exact date and location of each meeting!
InterClub Social Events
Each semester, AWE hosts socials with other EE/CS clubs on campus to foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for our members to meet new people. Past InterClub Social Events have included a karaoke night with HKN and a casual hangout with CSUA.
Evening Company Events
AWE hosts a variety of engaging events in partnership with different companies. Members have enjoyed an evening with Airbnb representatives at a local Airbnb, enhanced their resumes through a workshop with Texas Instruments, practiced technical interview skills in a session hosted by Karat, and much more. Typical Evening Company Events include tech talks, office visits, industry panels, and technical workshops, though we always welcome new types of company events!
